Difference between Web 2.0 and HTML

Everyone is doing web surfing nowadays through WWW (World Wide Web) to entertain, learn and fulfill their online requirements.

But most people are still saying that "Web 2.0 and HTML are same technologies and both are used to create webpages" but they are completely wrong here because these both technologies are completely different from each other and designed for performing their own set of work and having their own set of unique features.

Here I am going to tell you the real meaning of both technologies along with the difference between Web 2.0 and HTML.

What is Web 2.0?

Web 2.0 (Released in 2014) is the 2nd Generation of World Wide Web (WWW) emphasizes the websites for advanced interaction between Web and Users. Web 2.0 has several advancements and features to enhance the interaction of users from the web, which is not possible before or previous generation of WWW (Web 1.0).

Web 2.0 can transit Static HTML pages to Dynamic HTML pages. Websites become more interactive and dynamic or we can say it encourages participation, collaboration, interaction and information sharing on the web at advance level.

Web 2.0 opens the improved level of information sharing on web and provides functionality to emphasize websites as a Web-based Community of users for sharing information with large group of audience in form of Articles, Blogs, Wiki's, Microsite Platform etc.

Web 2.0 gives us many advancements to provide us hassle free and interactive experience of web browsing. Here is some interesting features or advancements of web 2.0 which we had not seen in previously generation Web 1.0.

Wikis: - Wikipedia is the oldest and largest website of Wiki site category for user generated and edited content sharing portal. Used for sharing information with the World Wide Readers in form of articles on the World Wide Web.

Social Networking: - Designed to improve and expand business or information sharing with a large group of online community where all the members can come and share their thoughts and opinions through articles, comments, polls and many ways.

Integration of Apps with Web (SaaS): - Web 2.0 also provides us the opportunity to integrate Apps or Softwares to the internet or Web by using SaaS (Software as a Service) apps. Using web apps and cloud computing instead of installing programs locally.

Mashups: - Mashups is the technology (Webpages or Softwares) developed to retrieve and share data from two or more sources from a particular website.

Blogging: - Blogging is a way of sharing information with the online readers in form of written content (Known as Articles, Blogs etc.). It is a micro-website platform designed for readers or influencers to share information and interact with the people on the web.

So we can say Web 2.0 is a technology provides more organised way of sharing information on the web to provide web users an interactive platform of reading and participation and sharing their opinions and thoughts for a specific or more topics.

What is HTML?

HTML stands for "Hyper Text Markup Language" is a language designed to create webpages and executed by web browsers to render on the web or World Wide Web.

Note: - HTML is a language to create webpages for the web. And Web 2.0 is a concept that understands and renders the dynamic webpages (betterly called Websites) on the web.

HTML has a set of short codes, Markup tags used to create webpages that is accessed by World Wide Web browsers. Each HTML code or tag performs or describes different document/content type.

As like generation of Web, improved by releasing of Web 2.0 after Web 1.0, same applies on the HTML, HTML is also getting improved by its every new generation having better usability, new codes or tags and much more improved functions.

In 2014, HTML released its 5th Generation of HTML called HTML5.

In HTML5, developers can create more dynamic or interactive website as compared to the previous generations of HTML. HTML is the most adopted language for creating webpages worldwide and it is not a complex programming language, so it is readable and accessible by human or browsers both.

So, here it's cleared, HTML is used to create webpages and Web 2.0 is a concept or technology used to access and render dynamic webpages/websites on the web.

I hope this article helps you to understand the major difference between Web 2.0 and HTML. If you're still in doldrums then please comment below and I will clear your doubts. For further, keep watching this space continue.
